My house is often a wreck because of the importance of play.

I have criticised and punished myself internally a million times for the fact that I often have a sink full of dishes/ a machine full of wet washing/ an unswept floor/ four baskets expectantly waiting for the put-away train (the train is never coming btw).

But the fact is, it is that way because in my value system… facilitating and encouraging play comes way before that other stuff.

Play is how they grow, experiment and explore relationship dynamics.

‘Play is a child’s work’.

Play is consent focused and invitation only.

Play is only to be interrupted for the most important of commitments.

And play comes before housework.
